  “Commitment in implementing and
developing Sustainable Development Goals”
What is CSR?

“Companies that are breaking the mold are moving beyond corporate social responsibility to social innovation. These companies are the vanguard of the new paradigm. They view community needs as opportunities to develop ideas and demonstrate business technologies, to find and serve new markets, and to solve longstanding business problems.”

Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Harvard Business Review.

About the ISRA 2011

The Indonesia Sustainability Reporting Award (ISRA) 2011 is a annual award which awards companies or organizations who have developed and published sustainability reports and CSR reports and made good use of the corporate or organizational website to disclose its activities.

Sustainability reporting is a communications tool through which organizations disclose their current economic, social, and environmental value to stakeholders, and present their responses to climate change, social problems, and other sustainability issues.

It’s a rising trend
Globally, the importance of sustainability reports continues to rise: a trend echoed here in Indonesia. Over the last five years, more and more companies and organizations in Indonesia have been producing sustainability reports. This reflects not only the private sector’s greater awareness of its impact on environmental and social issues, but the growing awareness of the need to be accountable to stakeholders through transparent communication.

By law, (Article 66.C of the Limited Liability Company Law no. 40 Year 2007), Indonesian companies are required to   disclose their social and environmental responsibilities through their annual financial reports. From here, it is a short step to the concept of integrated sustainability reporting: this refers to the combination of financial and sustainability-related   information into a single, annually-produced report.

How can an organization improve the quality of its reporting?
You can do this in two ways. Firstly, the use of a reporting framework like GRI guides the content of a sustainability report; allows for easy year-on-year data comparison, and provides a tool for the evaluation and monitoring of sustainability  activities. Furthermore, it demonstrates the organization’s endorsement of internationally-accepted sustainability reporting  standards.

We believe that participation in ISRA will inspire organizations to improve the quality of their communications. We commend the rising trend of sustainability reporting in Indonesia and encourage more organizations to participate in ISRA. ISRA is an opportunity to show national and international peers your contribution towards the development of better quality sustainability reporting.

The ISRA judges are all independent, certified sustainability reporting experts. They will evaluate the reports against a  sustainability reporting yardstick which is continually improved year to year as the field of Indonesian sustainability reporting grows more sophisticated.

We believe your participation in ISRA will encourage greater effort in your sustainability communications, enhance your  organization’s reputation, and demonstrate your care for your fellow human beings and our shared environment.
