The GRI started in 1997 as an initiative of the United Nations Environment Program and became independent in 2002. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the GRI is an official collaborating center of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and works in cooperation with the UN Global Compact.

The GRI develops the sustainability reporting guidelines through a multi-stakeholder process that incorporates the active participation of business, accountancy, investment, environmental, human rights, research and labor organizations from around the world.

GRI Certified Training batch 3 will be held on 25-27 September 2012 at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur 2, Jl. Sultan Ismail. 50250, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
